Download Hour1 Download Hour2This week we ask why citizens of US believe that they are living in the 'freest country in the world'? We see why US Foreign policy remains the same - and what it will take to stop the perpetual war machine.
This week we begin with John Marciano speaking on "Empire as a Way of Life". Srawing on insights from Chalmers Johnson, Mareciano concentrates on the post-WW2 US politics, emphasising the rhetoric used by the US military-industrial-congressional complex to manipulate US public opinion. He describes how euphemism and censorship was used to obscure the imperialistic nature of US foreign policy, and exposes the bankruptcy of political rhetoric of that period. Our second hour concludes by starting reading chapter 12 of The Underground History of American Education.
