Susan Rosenthal
Born 1937
Known for Writing Power and Powerlessness, Sick and Sicker

Susan Rosenthal is "a physician and a socialist". She became a doctor, probably because her brother Ron was born with severe hemophilia for which there was no treatment at the time. To her young mind, doctors had the power to stop suffering, and I wanted that power. Disillusioned with the power of doctors in the modern healthcare system, she became a psychiatrist, only to meet similar frustrations about the limited ambit of action.

"Capitalism is a cruel and heartless system that tears people apart mentally, physically and socially."

She has published Power and Powerlessness about the fundamental human need for control over their own lives, and Sick and Sicker about the realities of the "healthcare" system in US.
