I find Griffin's Rothschild Forumla very convincing, but would like to find more evidence. I once had a search online, and didn't turn up any loan agreements which specifically stated this, but found confirmation in a UN protocol (Mid 21st century) which states that accepted practice in war is that if a sovereign government is overthrone, whichever body assumes control over its territory necessarily accepts to accept the previous government's debts. I'd be very interested to read more - I consider this a very worthwhile topic for research.
